Product Description
The “Missing Belt Guard” is the one part that could save you hundreds of dollars in repairs that a warranty won’t cover. Now you can have complete peace of mind that your belt is protected.
This special “Missing Belt Guard” attaches onto the left swing arm and prevents stones or other debris from getting onto the drive belt and then lodging in the rear sprocket. Made of black Polycarbonate to be light, strong and durable.
Why did we not use aluminum or steel? Probably the same reason the factory didn't attach a belt guard on the inside. The tire is so close to the belt that it requires a very thin material and using metal would most likely damage the tire or belt if anything were to get lodged. The "Missing Belt Guard" will not blow out your tire or damage the belt and in fact if something does get lodged, it will tear off by design. Also, can you just imagine the pinging sound it would make every time a little stone hits metal? The tire and belt will always win the battle.
This is an easy install with complete instructions and additional hardware.

Quality product
Just installed on my 2020 RTL, looks like it will help a lot, easy to install. I only have 2000 km on it and no gravel and got a rock in the belt so thanks Spyderpops for a product that BRP should have standard on there bikes.

Missing Belt Guard
Installed without any major difficulty. Would seem to be a wise precaution given the expense of a damaged belt. Some might say this is a lot to pay for a flimsy piece of plastic, but from an engineering perspective, I think it is well suited to the task! To install, it is best to get the Spyder up on a lift, makes the job go easier. I also recommend peeling back a starter section of liner and taping in place. I did this in two opposing directions, each starting in the middle, and then peeled back each half once the guard was aligned. This 3M double-sided tape is what is used on auto body molding and it really sticks, so you want to be sure the alignment is absolutely correct before adhering; once it is stuck it is there to stay! Based on 3Ms installation procedures, they also advise applying a full 10 seconds of pressure across the taped area for complete adhesion. And definately use the adhesion promoter! One more install tip. The outer belt guard is held on by two (T-30) screws with self-locking 10mm nuts. These two nuts "float" and must be held in place to loosen the screws; the nuts are hard to get to. The two J-nuts provided with the SPY149 are meant to replace these two nuts, making reassembly much easier. I do think the install instuctions could be improved, but I am a technical writer and even say that about my own documents!

MISSING BELT GUARDtm” FOR 2014 AND UP RT WITH 1330 CC ENGINE
Followed instructions but had to custom widen the slots a little to clear frame weld beads. Take your time and get it centered correctly because it is a tight fit and does stick in place once installed. I figure this is cheap insurance for protecting belt.

Belt Gaurd
I think 45.00 was pretty steep for plastic. But that being said it was easy to install and should work well !

Added protection
Easy install on my 2018 RT Ltd., just followed the instructions. Having to travel down a stretch of dirt road to get to the house, I hope this will keep debris from getting in my belt. Good service at an affordable price. Thanks, Spyderpops.

Great product
Easy installation. I did have to cut out the notch that goes around one of the outside guard mounts because the BRP welding was a little sloppy. This will definitely allow me some piece of mind when I run into armor coating highway projects. Thanks for the great product! 2014 RTL

Modification required
2014 RTL with belt tension pulley installed requires modification to Missing Belt Guard prior to installation. I used a Dremmel tool to cut hole and space in belt guard for proper fit to occur over tension pulley bolt assembly. Once this mod was made, the belt guard fit and works perfectly. I used motorcycle/atv lift to make removal of belt cover bolts easier using an extended 10mm socket and small ratchet to keep nut from turning while removing belt guard attachment bolt using screw driver from opposite side. A second set of hands is needed for this procedure. I would purchase the Missing Belt Guard again for another Spyder.
