The “Missing Belt Guard” is the one part that could save you hundreds of dollars in repairs that a warranty won’t cover. Now you can have complete peace of mind that your belt is protected.
This special “Missing Belt Guard” attaches onto the left swing arm and prevents stones or other debris from getting onto the drive belt and then lodging in the rear sprocket. Made of black Polycarbonate to be light, strong and durable.
Why did we not use aluminum or steel? Probably the same reason the factory didn't attach a belt guard on the inside. The tire is so close to the belt that it requires a very thin material and using metal would most likely damage the tire or belt if anything were to get lodged. The "Missing Belt Guard" will not blow out your tire or damage the belt and in fact if something does get lodged, it will tear off by design. Also, can you just imagine the pinging sound it would make every time a little stone hits metal? The tire and belt will always win the battle.
This is an easy install with complete instructions and additional hardware.

Installation/Use
Installation was easy and instructions were detailed and easy to follow. I've put about 100 miles on my 2008 Spyder GS since installation and so far so good. In southern Ohio there is allot of gravel on our roads and back roads,. so time will tell if its effective. It does provide a peace of mind. I am also curious how long the adhesive will hold this part in place.

Apparently someone replaced my back fender, so it is not compatible with this part. It looks nice, but I just can't use it.

Missing Belt Guard no longer missing
Very straightforward installation. It is complete with everything you need to put it on quickly. Material is thin, as it has to be to clear between the belt in the tire. The Plastics material is thin but strong. Its design is to prevent small stones from being flung off the tire and thrown onto the belt. I purchased this after having to replace a belt with only 7000 miles due to a stone which had been tossed upon the belt and of course landed on the edge, not the middle, the worst possible place. Even though I was able to replace the belt myself, these belts are pricey. Not to mention the inconvenience. That tire is so close to the belt, that is amazing that they last as long as they do. I change motorcycle tires for a living, and there are it's always tell tale signs of wear on the belts and cogs from foreign material that is kicked up and then ground through the belt. I see on the Harleys all the time. So the bottom line is, this little piece of plastic could save you hundreds of dollars and aggravation. For what it cost oh, well worth the peace of mind. And by the way, avoid freshly chip sealed roads like the plague on any belt-driven machine. Chip seal is the belt killer!

It's a tight fit but seems to work well
I worry about some stone getting stuck on my belt, and judging by the mud and grit coating the inside of the outer belt cover when I removed it to fit this guard, belt damage is very likely to occur if not prevented by installing this missing belt guard.

Missing Belt Guardtm
We found this to be easier to install than originally thought which was a pleasant surprise. The instructions were well-done and easy to understand, and so far, my Spyder has not been damaged by gravel or stones. I can only conclude the belt guard is doing it's job, and it has given me quite a bit of peace of mind when I have to ride over a patch of gravel!!!

Its been working great for a couple of years!
I have to travel about a mile to get to the paved road in New Hampshire from my house. The Cam Am has also been up Mt Washington once which is also 7 or 8 miles up to the top. So far, no stones have landed on the belt. I did find it a bit difficult to get it attached without it touching the tire with the supplied directions. I'm sure I could do better (with alinement) if I had a second shot at attaching another one. Just be very careful before you stick it down.
